I know I’m gonna sound like a racist douchenozzle, but what’s the actual difference between a gnome and a dwarf? Seriously I don’ know the difference… and don’ even get me started on the whole male/female thing. XD
Gnomes are diminutive and have pointy hats, like to pretend to be frozen as stone in your garden and work for the Gnome Syndicate watching all your movements (yes, be afraid, be very afraid).
Dwarves speak with fake scottish accent (not that I could tell the difference really, Scottish accent actually sounds like perfected Indian English to me I found the other day when I finally heard a true Scottish accent for the first time in my life), drink alcohol like madmen, love axes and mining for shinies and wear horned helmets (not pointy hats). Depending of the multiverse they are made of stone (Tolkienverse) or heavily muscled flesh (most other universes): they are the closest living thing to a Neanderthal.
:| Dwarves… have no females. Well they do but they have larger beards than the males, which is very disgraceful, that is why dwarven females go as males and why dwarves hang around in (drinking)groups(to drink so much that the females get noticed by the dwarves EXTREME-drunk-vision). Also they all smell like coal. While gnomes are relatively smaller and like to look at whatever is in their line of vision i.e. rectums, genitals, and other such nonsense.
Well this is a bit technical. In terms of myths and legions Gnomes and Dwarfs are very much alike. Both are earth spirits both have taken on short bearded men. You could say the two are related.
In term of living styles Gnomes prefer forests, glens, and gardens. So much so they will defend a human household if they taken habitat in the garden. These defensive tactics can be taken to the extreme. Very strong and VERY easily offended The folktales mostly come from Scandinavian folklore where they are called Tomte or Jultomten. Tomte is translated into Gnome. Thought appearing as little old men with pointed hats some of the tales have them shape changing. Modern Tradition of having a figurine of a Garden Gnome came from these folktales… or perhaps being shape changers we think they are just figurines.
Dwarfs come from Norse, Germanic mythology it was a pair of Dwarfs that forged THOR’s Hammer. Deep dwelling beings they care little to nothing with those living above ground. Dwarfs were the product of the primordial blood of the being Brimir and the bones of Bláinn. Thought some other myths give different origins. That the dwarfs were given life by the gods from Ymir’s flesh and blood (or the Earth and sea). Just like Gnomes they are stronger then humanly possible but there no stories of them shape changing or having other supernatural abilities. Most stories have them as being neither good or evil, most just have them smart stone workers and smiths. I heard of some Native American Folklore that also spoke of stone working dwarf like beings but I am unfamiliar with those.
You missed something in your lore about dwarves, Xavou.
A lot of stories imply that the dwarf’s supernatural power is Actually being something of a null being. Meaning that they seem to be, or at least a lot of stories imply that they tend to be, immune or mostly immune to magic.
Admittedly a lot of the stories are tangled up with Tolkien and D&D stuff nowadays and hard to separate. So how honest some of the sources at this point are is hard to say.
Also if you go by D&D/Magic, gnomes are great inventors of things best left alone. 99;;
According to David the Gnome, the meanest gnomes come from Russia, most others tend to be kind and compassionate, if prone to constructive mischief, which, while annoying, does a lot of good. On occasion, arranged marriages occur between foreign clans, so I am guessing to be this mean, Gyro’s mother must have been Russian; she may have also contributed to the genetic diversity needed for mutation. She likly henpecked her husband and spoiled the boy, to the chagrin of their kinder neighbors.
Oh gosh. xD I love this comic.

Also dwarves like to travel in groups of 7 and gnomes are loners, who if aggrivated punch you in the balls asking for the rent.

And for some reason I missed spelled legends

And Goblins are great improvisors of thing that are built to blast ….
Any comic strip ‘punchline panel’ that has “BARF” is an automatic win.
Aaaaand that explains my question in the previous strip. ^^;
