So she likes Tears for Fears when she’s under the influence of the halo? Wouldnt she be more into christian rock or Justin Bieber or something along those lines?
Now I feel kind of depressed. She looks like she should be crying in the last panel. Yet, she had to have chosen to put on the halo, because LP wouldn’t have had to hand it to her.
Also, Good Girl wears shorter skirts that Bad Good Girl. And did she refer to her other self with the boob grabbing motion?
At first I thought “what’s so depressing about that Tears for Fears song?” then I remembered there’s also a slower, creepier version of it and now I have the shivers.
@kvweber: I agree. Tears for Fears version is too happy. But once you listen to the Gary Jules version (the slower version), the last panel makes all sorts of creepy sense.
Is it evil to curse someone to automatically have to act good? Even if the intentions were good, is it inherently evil to force someone to have to act in a specific way? Especially if that person was innocent of any crime whatsoever?
What I’m asking is, does the halo automatically run down its’ battery due to the simple fact that its’ very existence might qualify as evil?
Does abusing or taking advantage of such an item qualify as an extreme of evil?
I don’t know, she seemed a lot happier as Bad Good Girl than as Good Good Girl. Now she just seems a little fake.
She should change places qith Distracterella.
I feel… scared now… yeah I would like Bad Good Girl back, besides the fans have enough with a super villain with super sexy powers that uses body paint instead of actual clothing and Buckaress with her super small costume and boob freckles. The perverted fans have plenty.
JeffEpp>> I don’t think it’s a choice thing that she put it back on. She said it will find it’s way back to her on it’s own eventually, so odds are she probably chose to put it back on herself rather then half it suddenly jump back to her at an inconvenient time.
@ Mongo, please don’t compare Christian Rock and Justin Beiber. Christian Rock has some good music. Justin Beiber on the other hand, is one of the 4 horseman of the musical apocalypse. I don’t have all 4 yet. but my list is this. Rebecca Black, Justin Beiber, The Jonas Brothers and I am still working on a 4th musical catstrophy
@Chameon- interesting thoughts! I would think that yes, controlling someone is evil to some degree; and that would be an interesting reason for it’s ‘battery’ to wear down. But the fact that they were able to charge it by forcing another typically ‘evil’ person to behave makes it seem like that probably isn’t the case.
@ James Rye
OOoo! Skillet! I love them! One of my favorite bands! A little “Comatose” or “Rebirth” would fit in nicely with this theme of Bad Good Girl trapped in Good Girl’s “body”…
Plus, no human being can be 100% good. Not to wax philisophical here, but there is evil in all of us. Sometimes, despite our strongest attempts to be good, we still sin/do evil/whatever. To have a 100% good girl is to show inhumanity…
..Ergo, Good girl is a Monster, not a superhuman. (and, I got the chance to use the word “ergo”)…
Adding lyrics from the song “mad world” defiantly had a creepy feel to it. Maby Bad Girl is the real her. . . and in reality she is trapped within the influence of the halo. . .
@plusook: Ah, but the question then is whether or not the evil act counters out or minimizes the good act. Furthermore, they didn’t so much force an evil person to act good so much as restrain him from acting evil, and even then it was, to all practical intents and purposes, simply restraining himself from having to do so. What I’m basically wondering is if BGG were to develop a more intense hatred (I’m…not sure if that’s possible) or were to accept the halo if it’d have a different effect. Time to begin on SCIENCE! -Pulls out hacksaw-
@Clyide
Actually, you are correct: Bad Good Girl is who Good Girl really is. Waaaayy back near the beginning of the strip, we saw Good Girl’s origin story (http://superredundant.com/?p=139). Her original nature was to be a bad girl. The halo “bent her to it’s will”, forcing her to be 100% good, instead of letting her have a revelation moment and redeeming herself.
That girl is gonna blow one of these days, and it ain’t gonna be pretty…
My apologises! I re-read the Good Girl origins, and I rescind my last comment. Good Girl WAS a good girl, originally. I think the Bad Good Girl is the pent-up naughtiness of Good Girl’s normal nature.
Man, I need to leave the head-shrinking to the shrinkers of heads…
As with any good entity there is and evil entity. For everything good there is somthing bad. Good Girl’s becoming Bad Girl is the natural balance of her normal self. Everyone has a dark side, by that I man an opposite personality. People who contantly stay indoors will injoy a weekend camping and outdoor people know that resting indoors with the A/C on can be very relaxing. We always let out this opposite self when needed so that we don’t go insane from the pent up emotions. It’s why Good Girl yelled when she went bad, those pent up evil ententions came out all of a sudden involuntarily because her halo lost power instead of her throwing it away to make a villian repent his actions. Her listening to that slow creepy and unerving song is a small release of her bad side.
This opened up profound questions for me regarding the emotional state of this particular character- something I didn’t think this comic was capable of when I began reading. It’s been a couple days, and I’m still thinking about it. In what way does the halo affect her? It seems obvious to me that her “Bad Good Girl” side should be her base personality, because it’s -lacking- outside influence, rather than the Good Girl personality, which relies on the halo. If you were to then assume that “Bad Good Girl” is the “real” Good Girl, the implications begin to get a bit frightening, as then the “real” Good Girl is practically a prisoner in her own body. The worst part is that last panel, though. It implies to me that trapped deep within, “Bad Good Girl” is still there, aware, and very very emotionally unstable and depressed by her situation. It makes me wonder just what kind of alteration the halo makes; full split personality, where there might be a full two people in there, or is it closer to a form of mind control?
That song is always a tear jerker to me, and is very depressing all on it’s own. With motifs of madness and death(possibly suicide, depending on how you read into it) with a somber tone, the choice of that song makes me wonder even more, and lends weight to the feelings on the last panel I mentioned above.
Probably just a bit of fan wank here. I probably read into this a bit much. But that’s how I saw it, and the questions it rose for me.
This comic gets me thinking a lot. It turned her from a gag, to a really interesting personality I started developing a little bit of a crush on. Really makes me wonder: how would one go about dating Good Girl/good Bad Girl. Is a long term relationship even possible with the kind of issues she has?
For mental stability’s sake, you might have to engineer jerky things to do in order to remove the halo sometimes and let good Bad girl roam free, but you couldn’t do that all the time or the dishes would never get done… And if you could engineer jerky things without Good Girl dumping you, how much time would as each persona would be healthy for her psyche? 50/50? 70/30?
My mother has that song as alarm. A bit further along the lyrics it says “And I find it kind of funny / I find it kind of sad / _The Dreams in Which We’re Dying are the best I’ve ever had_”. Version by The Red Paintings by the way. It can’t get any more depressive than that.
She’ll probably go crazy one day and start a killing spree AS GOOD GIRL.
So she likes Tears for Fears when she’s under the influence of the halo? Wouldnt she be more into christian rock or Justin Bieber or something along those lines?

:(
She even looks like Frank in that last panel D:
NIce touch…”Mad World”…
Oh man…BUckaress could almost be Distractrella’s sidekick: DIstracterella and Buckaress! >swoon<
@kvweber: I agree. Tears for Fears version is too happy. But once you listen to the Gary Jules version (the slower version), the last panel makes all sorts of creepy sense.
By the way, Gary Jules’ video is pretty cool for this song. CHeck it out on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4N3N1MlvVc4
I would love to see more of Good Bad Girl in later strips.
Last Panel, one word: Angst!
Beware the nices ones? owo;;;;;
I think both of her personalities are cute, though. XD
@JeffEpp I think it’s more of a “I’m a monster” motion, with the tongue out that’s what it looks like to me. ^^
Sara Hickman also does a great haunting rendition of this song. That’s what I thought of when I saw the last panel.
Is it evil to curse someone to automatically have to act good? Even if the intentions were good, is it inherently evil to force someone to have to act in a specific way? Especially if that person was innocent of any crime whatsoever?

Whoohoo philosophical thought toys.

I got here pretty late… :(

@Mongo Nah, it’s probably the Gary Jules version.
Now Good Girl just seems tragic and creepy.
And horrifically funny.

Why not listen to Skillet – Monster or I need a hero and such? XD
wow, she’s… her life sucks, huh?
i’m surprised she doesn’t keep the halo locked in a box or something ’til she needs it
@ James Rye

There’s not only the general atmosphere of the version by Gary Jules.
There’s also what movie it was used in.
‘Nuff said.
One word: induced bipolar madness
Three words? Whatever.
She does seem to have something of a forced smile there.
I love this strip by the way, and all the characters have a bit of charm; this did make me a little sad though :)
In either situation, she’s going too far to the extreme. Both are really who she is, but not on their own.
Adding lyrics from the song “mad world” defiantly had a creepy feel to it. Maby Bad Girl is the real her. . . and in reality she is trapped within the influence of the halo. . .

Compare with GG in the last panel.
Happy thoughts :D

This is seriously one of the saddest webcomic panels I’ve ever read. I feel really bad for GG.
I agree with Dan.
This almost made me cry. Poor BGG
This…you have shown remarkable depth in this comic, and not just with this character.
I approve, and a tip of the hat to you.
Oh my god that is soooooooooooo scary!!!
Wow. This strip took a really dark turn at the end there.
So she’s being mind controlled by the gloria? Or am I reading into this wrong?
