Yeah, if I took my phone into the future a couple of years i don’t it would have service either, as I would have likely upgraded to another phone, at which point the service provider would refuse to handle the old one (911 *might* work).
I mean, if you want to get technical, your phone might not work if you traveled 30 *days* into the future unless a parallel version of you in that timeline had paid your phone bill, didn’t lose the phone and need to get a new SIM card, and also wasn’t still connected somewhere else making the system think you’d cloned a SIM card.
In North America (not just the US) 911 is required to always work by law, even without a sim card, on any phone capable of making calls
The call will even piggy back off of encrypted military signals if thats all thats available (so even if the phone shows no signal, emergency calls might still work)
I imagine other countries probably have similar laws
So yes, even if you travelled CENTURIES into the future, so long as the towers are capable of interfacing with your phone, 911 would still work

Nah it’s fine, I’ll just go back once this is all over and pay my bill normally and then I will have had reception in the future when I needed it.

Also, WiFi would work. Just find a hotspot.
I mean, it would be fair to assume everyone else is dead…
I mean, if there is no more internet… what’s the point to carry on?
What’re the odds that the person in need of assistance is LP who appeared partially inside the remains of a wall when he crossed over.
That’s not a person in need of help. That’s the lure of the adventurer-eating post-apocalypse mutant horror plant, shopping for feed.
