Why do they never bring up that magic breaks the laws of physics in comic books? It breaks my suspension of disbelief.
vote LoSRH here
Lets have another Story Arc these little non-LoSRH clips just arent very filling.
I would have used Santa…
I’ve Magically gone bankrupt!
In this case, a wizard really did do it!
And the toy company is actually in an alternate universe, so nobody will ever know how he did it…and never being found out is kinda like being innocent, right? Right?
…because that’s what “magic” means?
“Toys for Orphans!”
What a great spell. Hmm, im curious what happend when he says “yenom rof em!”^^
How about the thought that many settings make the assumption that you already know magic is capable of matter to energy conversions, and the opposite. If you treat magic in such a manner it does start to follow definite rules that fit within physics. It may not happen in all settings (some authors are just to fond of using magic as an excuse to let anything happen without any governing rules), but in many of them it does.
Well, Wonder Woman points out that Magic breaks all sorts of physical laws in the very first issue of Justice League Dark
Any readers of the Discworld series can relate to the idea.
Luckily, the department store that the wrapping paper came from had insurance to cover such an insignificant theft.
If it followed the laws of physics it would not be magic, it would just (JUST?) be very advanced science.
“Any sufficiently analyzed magic is indistinguishable from science” (Girl Genius, I think)
It pretty much comes from Arthur C. Clarke’s third law:
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
I concor with the Critic
He actually says “orphans for toys” – I was fearing some sort of horrific final panel…
Superhero comics’ relation to the laws of physics consists of telling them to bend over and take it like a man, anyway.
Socialism in a nutshell. Rob selected Peter to pay Collective Paul.
