Dear Cthulhu, that’s exactly what those ’90s creations looked like too. It’s like Poe’s law applied to character design.
I could never tell most of those ’90s “heroes” apart ’cause they were all just completely uncoordinated mishmashes of random “cool” details. Like the product of some weird visual Mad Libs game.

In the ’90s every two bit comic tried to copy Frank Miller’s Batman and have “cool” anti-heroes. This is an unholy amalgamation of many of those characters, like a superhero Mr Potatohead.
I think this guy will be full of moody monologues about his replaced skeleton and how his back story was full of mental anguish. Lots of mental anguish. Oh, look how anguished I am, I just accidentally killed lots of villains. This will be most excellent. Can we please have a small fat ugly guy in a clown costume to speak for the hero please … just Like Willy Wonka … or something like that …
I laughed so hard! Everything is just right, although he’s not QUITE exaggeratedly muscular enough. Liefeld just cannot be mocked enough. Everything from the pouches to the more-weapons-than-can-be-used (the feet hidden behind the text box was a nice touch) is spot on. The only thing that would make it better (or at least more accurate) would be if the sword handle and the blade bore no physical relationship to each other. But then it’s hard to do it so wrong as came naturally to that man.
On the matter of the gun… looks like it’s a form of Machine Gun (as in, an actual MG, not an Assault Rifle that the uninformed call such, or even an LMG)… so it’s still a bit ridiculous (especially to wield un-mounted, let alone one-handed), but yeah, it is somewhat reasonable by such standards.
It’s also at such a perfect angle that it could really be anything; absolutely no part of the sides of the weapon are visible, which could reveal some drastic flaw in weapon mechanic understanding by the artist. I think that’s the point, too. Further joke fuel for the fire, like the comment about the sword handle possibly having no relation to the blade.
Also interesting to note people are commenting more on the Liefeld part of the name- I actually am curious about the Todd, Mc, and Lee parts and who they’re meant to implicate. A rush googling implies they might refer to Todd McFarlane and Jim Lee..? Both of whom appear to have been active in the 90s?
LOL
Captain 95! Man the 90s comics of liefeld and the clones are priceless.
Everyone had a gun/tons of pouches/a cybernetic arm like cable/whiteout eyes/ full body shots with objects blocking their feet due to artist having trouble drawing them….
Fun times lol. This give me an idea for a character in a superhero mmo game or even on freedom force.
You should make captain 95 a regular in this strip.
Other bits of 90’s “goodness” (and I use that word very loosely):
Ridiculously long ponytail.
Headgear that looks like a wrestler’s helmet.
Gun positioned in such a way (relative to his arm) that the grip must be in the middle of the gun, rather than the back.
And of course, single shoulderpad. (On the shoulder that seems less likely to need protection, no less.)
Don’t forget the heads that were smaller then the biceps. The artist who did “Man of Steel” for the first 25.issues, or so, wasn’t much better, except he never shrunk the heads. His version of Lobo is still my favorite, even so. When he moved to do the outlines for Lobo’s comic, I was in Bastich heven.

Aaaah, the 90’s. The much-revered ‘brown age’ of comics.
I don’t get it. Is the joke that he is SUPER AWESOME? *.*
Shatterstar, Cable and Deadpool’s colours… and POCKETS POCKETS POCKETS F*CK YEAH!!!
Ah, the 90’s, the dark age of comics and the golden age of Rob Liefeld.

I love that his feet are hidden behind the text box.
Also all the team names on the theme of “blood”, because that was edgy and cool in the 90s.

@jennibrock: I didn’t notice that until you mentioned it! Very subtle reference there.
Now I’m so temped to make something like this in City of Heroes and/or Champions Online.
Oooh…
New Character!
Good effort, but I’m afraid I must deduct points for:
A) Competent human anatomy
B) No weird lines around the crotchal area
C) A gun that is actually somewhat reasonable by comic book standards
He has a small gun but he’s um… trying to ah… upgrade. Needs a weapon enhancement.

You totally nailed it!
That truly was a terrible time for comics.
you really should have zoomed in and shown his 500 teeth.

It’s perfect that we can’t see his feet.
Spectacular!
All he needs are a trenchcoat and some 5 O’Clock shadow and he’d be PERFECT!!

Oh, right. Cyberarm. Needs several pistols though.
