Ah, that reminds me of this Youtube Video. It is important to actually watch the 2 Minutes of Transformation Sequences (despite poor audio quality at times): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5ZlLWf6PvU
Granted Dragonball has it’s own issue in the same territory. I even heard a joke: “How many Dragonball Z characters does it take to screw in a light bulb?” “Just one, but it will take them 5 episodes to do it.”
Then again, there are some of them that show that they can a) kick ass while using their transformation doohickeys, and b) it really takes **** all to actually happen. But those aren’t as fun to mock.
In fact the power ranger fighting scene(from the first gen at least) were the same than the original version(wich was from japan i think) so technically… yes the civilian scene and fighting scene were shot in two different countries
@Asmodeus
more likely them lost their red and thats how the prism rangers borned in the netherworld, because always the red ranger its the leader of the team
@Jan: there are two kinds of people in this world: those addict to a drug known as Suspension of Disbelief and those adept to the Dogma of Crude Realism. The former can be easily spotted because they still believe in Santa Claus at the age of 12 or even 30 (at least they try), while the latter stopped believing soon after weaning and are proud of it.
The former love tropes and everything that follows a well-established fictious scheme and are the ones who finance Hollywood, the latter would love if villains just shot the silly hero dead before continuing with their poker game without a blink, something that actually happens in some but clearly not enough movies (and other fiction) but is pretty common in reality.
In the end it’s the old battle between religion (faith) and science (knowledge) but transposed to other more purely cultural areas.
Not that I expect many people here read Hajime no Ippo, but the black teenager in this comic looks a lot like Malcolm Gedo to me. I think it’s the facial expression.
Yay, Super Sentai (and Power Rangers by extension) is kind of ridiculous with how long it takes to transform. Kamen Rider isn’t much better but at least monsters try to exploit that weakness.
No more filler, please! My… I feel my guts bursting!! Nooooooo!!!!! *hideous splash*
On a more serious note, regarding the exchange concerning faith and science, please read GK Chesterton. Nieal Giaman is so inspired by him, he made him into a superhero, (Gilbert Green).
Coming home to this after seeing the new Power Rangers movie is… strange.
Like… the movie let me bury most of my childhood memories of how horribly corny and half-assed the TV series was, but you refreshed my memory. :(
(Yes, I realize this comic was posted four years ago, and probably isn’t at all relevant to the 2017 movie. Then again, the series ended in the 90s, didn’t it? So why make the comic in 2013 either?)
I wonder if they have a person with myriagon power. Or maybe they’d just call it a circle to ease the confusion.
Triangle power for the woman… coincidence?

Don’t forget the sudden change of location and lighting between civilian scenes and fight scenes.
Its almost as if they’re shot in two different countries!

That and most of the mighty morphin era pre-ninja power, was stock footage fight and bosses. Even Rita was stock footage.
I thought everybody knew Transformation Is a Free Action! (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TransformationIsAFreeAction)
Triangle Power Turbo Teen looks like an older Blossom from Powerpuff Girls.
So THAT’S how the Prism Rangers came to be in the Netherworld.
I am suddenly reminded of “laundry day” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQ5ziNOtoMU
What I always wondered was how they could play the flute with a mouthpiece…
Anyway, anybody has heard about the Emo Rangers?

@Wysail
Has anyone ever told you that explaining a joke ruins it?

It shows how evil a Demon Etna is for ignoring a rule other Demons seem to respect.

I tend to just shot em in the knee and took theire stuff while them crying in agony.^^
@Maju: Yes, and there is absolutely nothing in between those two extremes. NOTHING.

Didn’t they see the movie? The mooks actually LEFT while they were doing the whole transform sequence thing!
