They’re also known for sexual violence, violence against their young, and drowning and assaulting humans. Don’t let them fool you Dolphins are violent creatures just like sharks, the only difference is that they’re cuter and mammals. Don’t trust Dolphins.
Violent just like humans, you mean. Sharks are violent like animals, but dolphins are violent like people.
We have the dumb tendency to look at wild animals that are cute and completely forget that they are wild animals, then we act shocked when they lash out.
“Save men from drowning.” A friend once pointed out to me that dolphins like to push balls around. A floating human is just a strangely shaped ball with fun, wiggly appendages. The dolphin pushes the “ball” in a random direction because it’s fun. If that random direction happens to be toward shore, the human lives to tell an amazing story about being saved by dolphins. If the random direction is out to sea, though, we don’t hear that story, do we?
How’s it that only people in the USA heard these weird stories about dolphins?
Cause I’ve been swimming with them many times at sea, in their own environment, and they showed up being really friendly and playful, both among themselves and with me.
Since they tend to share the same habits, and the same language across the oceans, I don’t think “italian” dolphins should be more friendly than “american” ones.
Besides, since they’re capable of moving along 3 axis in the water, and don’t have hands or tentacles to grab a “victim”, it looks unlikely that males can manage to rape anything capable of swimming… Just try once making love in a swimming pool with a willing mate, without leaning on the pool bed and without clinging to each other with hands and arms, and then tell me…
They drown or starve the female, and it isn’t 1 vs 1. They aren’t always rapy, though. They are also one of the only non-humans to mate belly to belly.. The pods are mostly female for many species, like with elephants.
Haha, i like this new one
You’re 14 times more likely to be raped to death by a dolphin than to win the Ohio state lottery.
What? It happens.
He must be a shark loaner’s worst nightmare
BTW “panties in a bunch” lol
I wonder what does “CD” stands for… “Common Dolphin”… nah too obvious.
Anyone else thought about Dr. Blowhole?
And the old lady shouldn’t be so surprised. The poor creature had the half of his(hers?) body replaced with cyborg implants. (Even the left eye) That should make anyone(any creature?) p*ssed off and wanting to take it on anyone/anything.
Funny part in the game Aquanox.
The main Character is part genetic experiment and to his detirement (and eternal dislike for Doplhins) they gave him to Socio-Gene-Complex of Dolphins.
While swearing revenge and “hunt you to the end of the world” the bad guys calls him out on it:
“Dolphins are docile, playfull.”
“Maybe. But don’t forget that Dolphins are also predators!”
Does the “Panties in a Bunch” store only sell them bunched up?
Will we see the female characters shopping there?
@atristain I’m pretty sure it’s something along the lines of Cyber Dolphin.
Well, I bet they’re scarred for life now. Well, for what little life they have left.
“They’re also known for sexual violence, violence against their young, and drowning and assaulting humans. Don’t let them fool you Dolphins are violent creatures just like”…. us humans.
That’s what you actually meant, right? Humans are known for all that and much worse, like massacring dolphins and other critters for no reason, massacring each other by the millions and being totally unable to stand up the great responsibility that comes with the great power we have.
I’ve never heard of most of your claims, “Random Citizen”, but I still like dolphins, for their sonar and big brains, especially a Brazilian species that are most of the time “doing it” (and seems totally consensual).
Instead those arrogant hairless monkeys… grrr!
“I wonder what does “CD” stands for…”
What am I, invisible? He’s a f___ing cyborg dolphin, how can there be this much head-scratching over what CD stands for?
Yep, CB = Cyborg Dolphin :)
For those wondering about dolphin violence etc, strangely I could find no credible resource with actual facts about “dolphin rape caves”, despite their popularity, and there are few legitimate accounts of dolphin attacks on humans.
While they’re not exactly “safe”, dolphins are a lot less violent towards humans than you’d be led to believe.
And finally, behaviors between dolphins, such as killing baby dolphins or smaller species of dolphin, should not be ascribed human values of life. It’s hard to prove they are even sentient(read: self-aware), let alone that they have moral guidelines that they are expected to follow.
One question that has been neglected: does the smaller old lady mean that CD sees criminals as equivalent to dangerous sea predators, and therefore to be exterminated where possible, or was this particular crook physicly shark-like in some way?
This character reminds me of Maxima of DComics. She couldn’t figure what the big deal was about killing dead to rights crooks either.
“What am I, invisible?”
Possibly your comment was not up when I looked (mine did not appear right away either). It could have been anything: cheeky dolphin, chivalrous dolphin, confusing dolphin or who knows (these LOSRH authors sometimes come with quite unexpected ideas, what is part of the fun). Also the word “cyborg” does not really comes easily to my mind these days: it was more en vogue some 30 years ago or so.
By the way, did he (or she) lose the tail? And one of the fins! That makes for a dramatic background story, I guess.
I get the feeling the tiny grandma with the big eyes is actually ‘Honest Lass.’
She used to fight Nazi’s during WW2 by telling them the truths they couldn’t face.
I think Panties in a Bunch is more like the Sam’s Club of lingerie. You buy it by the pallet.
I assert this outstanding.
Notice that all the creepy things you can attribute to dolphins have been done by humans as well….
Dolphins have been known to kill their own offspring, isually when an animal does this its to get the female to agree to more sex, but dolphins are one of the 3 animals that mate for pleasure (the other 2 being humans and bonobos) so killing their young would not serve this purpose
Also, there was an eperiement once where they tried to teach a dolphin to speak (its a long, crazy and unethical story) by having it live with a human woman, the dolphin would actually physically attack her until she gave it handjobs…
At least a shark will usually leave you alone after the first bite
