Buckaress, for the comics sake, get out of there! The last thing anyone need is another “girl on girl is hawt so lets make a lead a closet lesbian so that we can have lots of inuendo!!!” kind of comic. Is is so overdone and just tells the readers that the creator has run out of ideas and reverted to fanservice. We all know you can do better than that.
You kind of having it sideways. GG is the closet lesbian, Buckeress is the bi-girl in the closet.
I thought laser pony was the lesbian?
Oh no, not fan service! The horror…
While I dislike most fanservice equally, there has always been some in this comic, and I think it’s been handled pretty well. If they decide to add a slightly different kind into the mix, there’s no reason to expect it’ll ruin the whole thing.
Ok. It’s fan service time. Let’s do this.
Seriously though, if she was dating a dude, I don’t think there’d be this kind of reaction. How come a romance between two women seems to equal fanservice or porn in all your minds? I don’t get it.
Still waiting for goodgirl to wakeup in bed with a guy after a night as bad goodgirl,… That would be fan service for me.
@MichealHaneline: Could it be because as a society we still can’t see a relationship of two people of the same gender as normal? That they are still seen as exotic and therefore more attractive from the norm?
We do need to accept that it is normal. How can we as a society move on if we cannot accept such things?
Also, I was right! Buckarass is (probably) Bi!
I predict that she’ll secretly be some sort of bizarre supervillain and this date is her even more bizarre evil plot
BrokenEye, being a supervillain is her backstory.
I never got the expression “fan service”, I sure as hell don’t want to see a character I like reduced to a mere sexobject, it’s a disservice too me.
Not that it matters in this case, the “not another girl on girl” whining seems a little misplaced. Neither is it a big deal nor did it come suddenly or out of nowhere (see page 627).
Frankly, I’m delighted with Buckaress’ reaction. Not for any “ooooh, pr0n..!” potential, but because it means she’s open minded: you got a gorgeous person seemingly interested in you, why not at least CONSIDER the possibility?
Why? This is crazy! She just met her and gave her numbers! So… she will call her, maybe? ;)
she got to have a super power of some kind, 2/3 people in this town have one.
My prediction, the morning after. Buckaress opens a fridge and screams NOOOOOOOOO!
Alex: What are you screaming about?
Buck: You drink SKIM!
Screw you guys. Red headed lesbian action! :D
And this is the part where we discover that this is all some cheesy comic-book evil plot by some manner of supervillan.
This is Shitropolis after all, Superheroes are the majority here.
@MichaelHaneline SO TRUE.
Also do you guy really think than an heterosexual relationsphip doesn’t have any fanservice potential? Eck, characters don’t even need to be in a relationship. Distracterella’s power is basically weaponized fanservice.
@Manar “making a character a closet lesbian because you’ve run out of idea”? Seriously? Buckaress has been hinted a long time ago as being attracted to girls (she is vulnerable to Distracterella’s power while for example Good Girl who is clueless about all thing sexy isn’t). This is character development not fanservice. Get your mind out of the gutter.
I don’t care if it’s fan service or not. I’m glad there is a story once in a while and I’m eager to see it evolves. In fact, I’m a little bit scared there won’t be much more than an “usual” joke.
@Manar, 1 this comic has always had fanservice, and 2 Buckaress had already been established as being interested in girls, so your complaints seem illogical. I will admit that lesbians seem to get more representation in non-LGBT-centric work than gay men do though, which might be for fanservice reasons.
Besides, Buckaress would be really disappointed to not get a chance of showing off her ‘Fancy Underwear’ after going through all that trouble.
if fan service is wrong then i don’t want to be right.
This is not fan service. Do you consider Lazer Pony and Mary Sue’s relationship fan service as well? This should not be any different, and treating it differently is highly offensive to me personally, being bisexual, as well as everyone else in the LGBTQ community. Rather than seeing homosexual relationships as normal human relationships, you are choosing to see only the sexual side, which dehumanizes the people involved. Seriously, people. Grow up.
Buckaress has pretty much always been the comic’s fanservice ever since she first got her costume. It’s a little late to start getting worried over it now. As for lesbian relationships, I’d only consider them fanservice if they’re only added for the sake of attracting a few more readers with a picture of two women kissing in the comic adverts.
Then you know exactly what i was worried about there Trolldrool. After having seen it sooo many times it is easy to get a kind of kneejerk reaction against it, as i did. Fortunatly the comic avoided that particular sinkhole and continued to be great, despite my fears.
