Both angels (literly meaning mesanger) as angelic are, afcourse. Sins Religion is used as a name though, they may have somthing in similar clothes and name.
Counter sue religion for making her take the stereotypical angel role due to her gender, and not having access to male role due to dogmatic religious rules.
Not to mention the wings, which were not a standard part of the angel imagery until they started being added during the renaissance.
Also angels were genderless, not male or female, until they started incorporating pagan imagery and reinterpreted the story of Sodom to make it about oral/anal sex rather than rape.
I’m a fan of a lot of the stuff that they’ve done since then. They’re a bit hit-and-miss, but when they’re on target, they’re on target. Avengers 1 was fantastic, and the second one wasn’t bad, if a good bit thinner than the first one. And the latest Marvel movie, Deadpool, was a hell of a lot better than I was initially expecting … amazing, really.
When I first saw the announcement posters, I was horrified. Once I saw the trailers, though, I realized that they had pulled it off. Clearly, the viewing public agrees with me, since we finally have an R-rated movie that beat out Passion of the Christ.
I know. The situation just reminded me of a book “Sam Gunn Forever” by the scifi author Ben Bova. The character in one the stories “Acts of God” had a space launch pad destroyed by the weather. His insurance company refused to honor his claim calling it “an act of god”. So he sued the pope as God’s rep on earth and settled out of court. Good book, btw.
But her having a Cross and a Halo wasn’t infringement? If that’s the case, it reads as ‘Religion’ is the name of a super-group, with a central theme of normal (relative for supers) to a stronger form, based on religions.
Mary-Sue gets less and less like a Mary-Sue each time we see her. Why isn’t she perfect at all kinds of law? And also medicine, dance, physics, and a dozen other things?
No wonder nobody finds her annoying. It raises the question of why Keith really broke up with her.
Being a Mary-Sue also doesn’t mean she is master of everything, only that everything goes right for her. That means she would likely be able to learn the kind of law required easily, but she just hasn’t as of yet. Who knows, this character arc may be resolved by her learning it in an afternoon when the company she recommends caves, or perhaps her brother, Gary-Stue, is working at said firm to help boost its education.
huh… you’d figure lawyers would be jumping at the chance to fight this case pro-bono…. I mean… think of all the good karma.
Oh…
Oh my god….
She can use the halo to make a lawyer fight her case pro-bono… and a good one, too…
i’ve been thinking, what if “religion” is the “Dalmatians 3 ” of Christianity? As in, a company that tries to look like something beloved but is actually a horrible, low quality mess? for example, GG’s origin story is regarded as contradictory in Canon since BBG has nickyskanktart’s personality yet the nearsighted priest exorsised some one else entirely. plus the priest and grandma look oddly similar, almost to much, like one was copied over but instead of leaving it like that like a sane person, the constructer of the origin story actually put effort into new clothes, hair, and poses for the copy, engaging in the rare trend of someone putting more effort into laziness then just leaving the product as is.
TL:DR
religion is that company that puts a dinosaur on their knockoff cereal and expects you to not notice that “fruiting smaks” looks just like the box of ” fruito-ohs” right next to it, and if you do fall for it then you get a product that does everything at 1/10 the energy
Heh, you’re making unwarranted assumptions in that first paragraph, particularly that second sentence, but I won’t run with it, because the atheists and liberal Christians will just start a flame war.
The anti-gay fundamentalists might have something to say, too, but I can’t see many of them reading this comic. I don’t particularly care what they have to say about anything, either.
Nah, not stupid. Just a little bit narrow in scope.
What you were expressing there is the way that liberal Christians view their religion. Obviously, fundamentalist Christians and lots of atheists will have a different opinion on the subject, deviating in opposite directions from each other, from the starting point of the liberal Christians’ perspective.
This comment was the first thing I saw after making my second one, I wasn’t expecting such quick reply. now I’m typing this without knowing if you have even read my other thing(because I’m typing on a kindle fire, and it might not update until I’m done) so I’m going to be quick and say I was referring to my not comunicating clearly enough. Also I’m not an anything Christian, liberal or otherwise, I just listed Christianity as beloved because it fit with” company imitates thing that a lot of people like” thing I had going with my Dalmatians 3 comparison( thought despite my non Christianness, I Will admit to finding Jesus to be cool since he seems pretty nice.) Also, sorry for thinking that you thought my thing was stupid, I just saw your avatar and immediately thought” oh gosh a seems mad” there’s more I want to say, but first I need to see if you posted anything while I was typing this since I wouldn’t know until I stopped
ok, so to be quick, I for got what I was going to post here since I’m sleepy as fuck, and I’m about to go to bed so I can’t talk anymore, thanks for your quick response and goodnight. Also this might come out as a gibbering mess due to said sleepyness, so I’m going to say “thanks” for some other thing( since I immediately for got the first thanks I just typed)
Heh, it’s cool. I’m generally the opposite, posting the most inane blather before I have my morning coffee. I think I was able to extract most of your salient points, as I quoted in my second response. Let me know if I missed anything.
This comment was the first thing I saw after making my second one, I wasn’t expecting such quick reply.
Yeah, if I already happen to be at my computer working, when the e-mail comes in, I’m often up for a quick distraction.
now I’m typing this without knowing if you have even read my other thing
Err, in this comment section? I’m not seeing another one, except for the five in this particular comment chain. Or did you just mean the one lower down, to which I already responded?
Also I’m not an anything Christian, liberal or otherwise, I just listed Christianity …
Ditto, on both points. I only continued with the usage of Christianity, since it’s the example you used. That’s totally fair, using that as the default, since it’s by far the most populous, here in the West.
thought despite my non Christianness, I Will admit to finding Jesus to be cool since he seems pretty nice.
Eh, he gives a whole lot of bad advice in the Sermon on the Mount, and his support of blind credulity in the Doubting Thomas passage is problematic. Also, the money-changers in the temple — who were just trying to provide a service, for people who might not have the right kind of money to buy their ritual-sacrifice animals — might have a serious disagreement with you. :-D
I just saw your avatar and immediately thought” oh gosh a seems mad
Nah, that’s just my default, neutral expression. Besides, I can’t be mad at every commentator on here. I don’t have the energy for that sort of thing.
also, sorry for how jerky I was towards the artist in the first paragraph(And thanks for not running with the “beloved” thing Narf, I felt abit weird about it too). I’m going to down vote my comment in spirit and be done it, feel free to join in the former or the latter, to whom ever reads this.
Heh, easy there, man (assuming you’re male). You don’t have to be so apologetic. There’s a lot of back and forth in a section like this, and most of it stays pretty good-natured, here.
Honestly, I didn’t even notice a lot of the word usage, such as ‘beloved’. It all just flowed together with a lot of the subject lingo. It sounds like something from some sort of Oprah spirituality. Her acolytes like to throw around uncommonly-used words like agape https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agape — pronounced like uh-gop-ay, not uh-gayp — as a sort of tribal identification marker.
Err, can we do down-votes on here? Besides, why would we want to do that? It’s more fun to run with it until we get bored with the particular thread.
Funny, I would’ve thought Angels would be Public Domain.
They are, but the devil has a lot of skilled lawyers. It’s probably a harassment lawsuit.
Both angels (literly meaning mesanger) as angelic are, afcourse. Sins Religion is used as a name though, they may have somthing in similar clothes and name.

Technically it was about bad hospitality. The rape was one example of just how abysmal the people acted there.
Marvel should have sued instead. :) Makes more sense given their history :)
Disney. Marvel pre-Disney was pretty decentish.
I’m a fan of a lot of the stuff that they’ve done since then. They’re a bit hit-and-miss, but when they’re on target, they’re on target. Actually, sue religion back for turning her into this form in the first place.
Because it was a nearsighted priests fault after all.
She should claim her transformation an “Act of God” and refer the litigant to his representative on earth, aka the Pope.
Technically she got his powers from an exorcism. So its Religion fault.
Bogwombler the litigant is “religion” not the Roman Catholic church, dunno if the RC church is involved.
I know. The situation just reminded me of a book “Sam Gunn Forever” by the scifi author Ben Bova. The character in one the stories “Acts of God” had a space launch pad destroyed by the weather. Yeah, with the “” around Religion is seems more likely a particular superhero or supergroup rather than the concept of Religion in general.
Religion Inc.
Patenting all religious imagery and suing people over it for over 5 days
Like the Happy Birthday song?

Perhaps LP’s rubbing more on her than she thinks.

*Marty-Stu
Called it! XD
Yup!
Its probably one of those patent troll companies based out of Texas.
One of them is blind, and the other one is kinda short and funny. I saw them on TV once.
I heard you have to go to Hell to hire them. Or at least its kitchen.
She should be careful not to fall in love with the blind guy, or that would mean a lot of bad things happening to her.
Anyway, I would not (king) pin her hopes on them to solve this easily.
She will end up with a lot of guys trying to use her as a bull’s eye and being fed natchios.
huh… you’d figure lawyers would be jumping at the chance to fight this case pro-bono…. I mean… think of all the good karma.
Oh…
Oh my god….
She can use the halo to make a lawyer fight her case pro-bono… and a good one, too…
Yes, but someone would have to take her halo off her for her to think of doing that
I sense a Catch 22.
So the obvious choice is have the super form of BGG, who is obviously a lawyer, take the case.
All she has to do is throw her halo at the judge and he’ll decide in her favor.
I mean, she hasn’t used that application of her powers in a long time, so why not bring it back?
I call my first witness: The angel who nuked Sodom and Gomorrah.
Followed by the guy that evicted Adam & Eve from paradise and the guy that looks like Travolta… you know, the one that evicted Lucifer from Heaven.
Mmmmh… I wonder if that is a good idea, they could attract moody teenagers piloting giant robots that will destroy the city. (again)
At least they will all have Tang after the fight…
Wasn’t that Loki? You’ve seen Dogma, right?

Nah, not stupid. Just a little bit narrow in scope.

I just had to point it out, since I’m pedantic.

After some hours and a few hundred strips I finally realised why Mary Sue is a prosecutor…
