Yeah, I suppose it isn’t so much that I didn’t think that it was possible for it to be worse, in a global sense. I just thought that the Republican party would wise up and put together a less horrifying ticket, this time around.
When the probable candidate at the top of the ticket is so freaking scary, I don’t even want to know what kind of monstrosity he’s likely to pick as his running-mate. Normally, moderates tend to pick someone more extreme, to appeal to the base, and candidates on the wing tend to pick someone more moderate, to appeal to the centrist voters.
I’m not sure Trump is sane enough to do that, though.
I guess “sane” isn’t the right word, though. He’s sane, and he knows what he’s doing. He’s just an evil megalomaniac … which would make him fit into this comic fairly well.
I wonder how his strategy will adapt to the general election, assuming he gets the nomination.
The Republican establishment. Didn’t see the threat coming, doing ineffective things to stop Trump, generally not doing smart things. Yeah, sadly them.
More or less, yeah, KNO. The Republican establishment has been pandering to the “Moral Majority” types since the 70’s, with the anti-abortion stuff, the constant Jesus declarations, and the anti-gay stuff, more recently. They had mostly been pandering to the religious extremists, in order to get the hyper-religious poor to vote against their own interests, giving massive tax cuts to the rich and stripping social programs for the poor (also letting the minimum wage stagnate).
Since the rise of the Tea Party, the previously-pandered-to social-extremists have taken over the whole thing, taking out many establishment Republicans in the primaries. When you gerrymander the districts as badly as they did in 2010, you can’t lose in a general election, only a primary. So, whoever appeals to the most extreme end of the party base will take the primary, and then they don’t have to worry about moving to the center for the general election, as they do in districts that aren’t gerrymandered all to hell.
LoSRH is going all American patriotic. Mayor KURGH is sporting a mandatory flag lapel pin, and the banner at Top Web Comics has a stars and stripes theme. Since Kurgh is wearing the pin, that proves he would make a good president.
KURGH DOES NOT NEED YOUR PUNY SPEECH! Kurgh has what we in the business call CHARISMA!
I take it that’s the name of his axe
Hey, who said preparation doesn’t help?
Preparation H? Depends.
Good as always Kurgh…I mean KURGH!
Nice to know that even conquering alien overlords, err.. I mean conquering alien mayors get affected by pollen season.
Looks like that press conference ‘snot’ a problem anymore.
I wonder if Kurgh’s assistant notes he’s doing better now.
Four more years! Four more years!
Couldn’t be worse than Trump.
In 2008, the entire rest of the world looked at us in horror, because of Palin. This year, it’s worse, which I didn’t think was possible.
That’s why you should never tempt fate by thinking ‘it couldn’t possibly get any worse’ because as someone noted in Freefall it can always get worse.

Hey, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Spain had a National Socialists, why not us? Welcome to the early 1930’s yet again.
I think that the US is already engaged in a lot of the same sort of activity that Germany was, which lead to WWII.
“Couldn’t be worse” nothin’. So far Kurgh has been alarmingly competent. I’d vote for him.
That’s a thought. True enough.
Of course, Kurgh wasn’t born a U.S. citizen… but then again, I’m pretty sure Trump is an android or something.
An early model.
Possibly a rejected prototype.
You know, from before necessity gave birth to the invention of the Voight-Kampff.
Nope, he’s human, and it’s the early 1930’s and the rise of the National Socialists.
At best he’s a human mind and/or brain implanted into an android body
Mein gott! Das ist whar!
Hell, you’ve seen the violence at the Trump rallies, right? The Brownshirts can’t be much further along in the progression.
Yup. Or Palpatine is running for Supreme Chancellor! Hello! Did anyone see the movie? And quick hide the younglings! Watch out for order 66!
Alright, so in this metaphor… who exactly does the Jedi order represent?

Sort of like Nick Valentine in Fallout 4? Only it’s Trump’s hair that is deteriorating, rather than his skin.
Kurgh hasn’t been working out as much.
Actually, I was going to ask about him last strip. It’s good to see him on-screen again.
Still 100% a better president than Donald Trump :I
Yup, since he thinks Oprah would be a great vice president.
Yeah, financial insanity one of side of the ticket, and pseudoscientific, alt-med, new-age woo woo, on the other side. Yeesh.
Crazy is as crazy does.
