Some smart person probably pointed it out last page, but it only just occurred to me, so I will now post proof of my slow wittedness. “Religion” is probably a name for another hero, albeit a stupid name, “Good Girl” as a name is at least a unique enough noun that few would mistake it with something else in most sentences.
Silly version would be if the one with the glasses is “Religion” in his secret identity. And he’s trying to figure out who sued on his behalf
Yeah, I don’t expect an actual religion of some sort to be involved here, except perhaps in the most tangential form. Someone on a previous page mentioned the patent vultures in Texas and other places, such as the assholes who patented podcasting, a decade after podcasts had already been a thing. Those guys then sent out cease and desist orders to podcasters all over the internet, demanding thousands of dollars for intellectual property usage.
The guys had a legitimate claim based upon the patent, but the patent was not a legitimate patent. If you have a sufficiently ignorant patent clerk, you can get away with all sorts of insanity, and lots of patent clerks have no freaking clue about anything, when it comes to computer technology. Of course, it takes a court case to sort out this sort of insanity, and most podcasters don’t exactly have tons of spare money for legal fees.
Who knows where the authors are going with this, though? It could be some super villain attacking her in an unorthodox (pun not intended) manner, or it could be the actual angels of heaven all getting together for a class-action lawsuit, eventually stripping her of her powers. In a fictional universe, anything is possible.
We don’t know that this was intended as a permanent change, after all. It could just be a temporary change, for the current story arc.
Heh. Podcasts were invented in 1895.
Hmm, that could possibly be covered under the wording of the patent. Either way, it was a stupid patent and should have never been granted.
My point is that British Telephones, could have sued the Texas guys, but that patent has long since expired. Podcasts are more than a century old.
Yup, which is why the new patent shouldn’t have been granted. You can’t re-patent something that has been around for over a century. There’s also a matter of the patent being stupidly over-broad.
I just noticed he’s a Matt Murdock expy.
A hero who had his bouts in religious themes.
I would say you just hit the jackpot man.
Errrrrr, who? It’s hard to see to whom you were responding, when there’s that much stuff between his comment and yours.
Hmmm…One question: Does “Religion” own the documented Copyright on file? If not, then “Religion” has no legal standing to bring a lawsuit.
A couple idiots were able to patent podcasting, back in the late 90’s or early 2000’s (I had the time period screwed up, in the last comment I left).
“The history of Personal Audio began on October 2, 1996, when James Logan, Daniel F. Goessling and Charles G. Call filed patents 6,199,076, ‘An audio program and message distribution system in which a host system organizes and transmits program segments to client subscriber locations,’ and 7,509,178, ‘An audio program and message distribution system in which a host system organizes and transmits program segments to client subscriber locations.'”
Considering that the patent even covers syndicated radio shows, based upon the verbiage in question, the patent was complete crap. I believe that Texas’s patent standards are some of the most lax in the country, causing lots of problems.
It’s sort of like when Tom Cruise sued the South Park creators over their Scientology episode. He had absolutely no chance of getting anywhere in a US court, since we have the 1st Amendment, so he went venue shopping and sued them in a British court, where the standards for a libel lawsuit are ridiculously lax.
They’ve only been in one strip and have not yet actually interacted with one another (only indirectly through GG)…
…And I already ship these two lawyers.
Yes. Good. *nods firmly*
Am interesting spoof on the Daredevil team.
I approve :)
Yup. I like. Hope it gets settled with a fight.
Well we were joking about this possibility a few strips ago, but it looks like we were right all along.
Indeed. Good job Pablo!
Seeing that she got her power from a priest (who is the one who messed up), Doesn’t that means that it’s Religion who defacto granted her her power and they aren’t allowed to take them back?
Since she got her powers via an exoticism performed by a catholic priest, how are they going to take back her powers? get a satanist to compell the devil back into her?
People, people, let’s have all these questions be tabled until the trial. Let the lawyers handle this. After all, it’s their jobs, yes?
Considering her current financial situation, it’s not unreasonable to assume that she’s far enough on her payments to the exorcism that they can just have her repossessed
I’ll just see myself out
Which half of her are they going to repossess? I’m not sure that they can separate her good half from her evil half, so they might have to settle for the top half or the bottom half.
Fortunately, Eva’s high school friend, Josie, is a magician. Perhaps arrangements can be made.
I like Mister Mustache
Looks like the redhead didn’t see that coming…
Matt rarely does.
Hears, smells, tastes, and Radar Senses, yes. Sees? No.
Nuts, now I have avocados on the brain.
Seeing how this is religion going on… i wonder if the devil part of daredevil will be important….
Is that receptionist a zombie?
So what if she is? Zombies are people too, more or less
Remember, they’re not undead, they’re differently alive.
And hangs out in starting dungeons.
Nah, skeletons are better for level 1’s. Zombies should be a level or two above that.
You have not seen the actress hired for the DD’s Netflix series?
The zombie? Yup. And?
DD Netflix series? Is that a series about cosmetic modification?
Sometimes. This guy called the Punisher likes to make holes in people totally modifying their cosmetics.
So, we’re talking about some sort of cleavage rouge?
Lead based, yes.
Heh, nice one.
I guess the guy that you mentioned, specializing in putting holes in people … so the first guy does the breast augmentation, and Punisher does the navel piercings?
Thank you,.. You nailed Nelson and Murdock right down to their drug-addict receptionist.
