So, it’s like S.H.I.E.L.D. only that it fights E.T.s instead of terrorists like I.S.I.S.?
(Boy! Having to write all those periods is painful! Sorry, but I had to point that. It was like a speck I had to wipe. Now I have to come to a full stop, before I digress even more…)
I don’t know why but your site is EXTREMELY unreliable to load. I have tried 3 browsers, IE, Firefox and Chrome. All three have a problem getting your site to load. It normally takes about 5 to 12 tries to load. The rest of the time it times out after 2+ minutes. This has been a chronic issue that I do not experience with the dozens of other sites I visit each day. I hope it is something you can fix as I do enjoy the toon, otherwise I would not spend minutes a day trying to get something that should load in less than a couple seconds.
I do not experience any such issues with the site. Nor seem to be many other people.
Could be some hickup on whatever path the DNS/Page data has to take across the internet.
I have one page where everytime after a update (according to RSS feed) I get “Bad Gateway” errors trying to read the page for ~1 day. Afterwards it works wonderfully and nobody else does.
Eh, nothing wrong with Firefox. I still have it installed on my laptop, although I almost never pull it up. It’s slower and less resource-efficient than most other browsers, but it isn’t a sufficient margin to factor in, if you prefer its interface and plugins over other browsers.
Another possible issue could be with their ISPs’ DNS servers, in which case these guys are more or less fucked … or at least delayed until things get updated. I wouldn’t think that would be the case, since things are handed off to the hosting servers, after the DNS servers find the domain. Maybe it’s some weird handling of the RSS feed.
Still, I’ve known many issues to be resolved by dumping the DNS cache, even issues which you wouldn’t think could be caused by a DNS issue. For all its wonders, the internet infrastructure is still largely held together with bubblegum and string. You’d have to take the whole thing down for at least a few days to restructure things properly, but that isn’t an option. And it would probably need another maintenance shutdown a couple of months after that, anyway.
So, S.H.I.E.L.D. can build a flying, stealth aircraft-carrier from scratch, but these guys need to resort to retrofitting alien technology? Laaaaaaaame.
Was Tony throwing money at S.H.I.E.L.D., too? I thought he came onboard long after they had everything set up as things were in the first Avengers movie.
True. Government contracts all over the place. I was thinking more of the funding, but I’m reminded of a comment about Area 51, in the original Independence Day movie.
“How do we pay for all of this?”
“You don’t really think the government pays $50 for a hammer, do you?”
Hmm, well, that is what humens do traditional if they find some elses home and dit not know it was there yet.
The Americans don’t even bother to see if anyone is still home, before taking over.
And if it’s a cool place like Hawaii… yoink!
Nah, that was years ago. Anything more than a decade ago counts as it always having belonged to the people currently occupying it.
… unless we’re talking about Israel.
Did I miss somewhere what D.A.G.G.E.R. stands for?
And why is this guy in blue having a pistol if he is a member of D.A.G.G.E.R.?

I would recommend Astonishing X-Men.
Beast: “Without even a ‘This isn’t over.’ My. People have no etiquette these days…”
Dunno, but if I had to guess it’s: Defense Advanced Guard Garrison for Extra-atmospheric Reconnaissance?
One of the G’s stands for Guns, Stevest.
I got it.
Dark- and Anti-matter Guns Guiding Extraterrestrial Relations.
Why do not both stand for guns? I mean we humans like guns!
Are double-G’s sort of like the firepower equivalent of double-D’s?
Defense Against Great Googly Extraterrestrial Rabbits

Argh! Forgot to add my name again!
Looks like I’m in a ADD period… period.
S.H.I.E.L.D funds terrorists like Hydra, and sometimes fights Hydra. So… maybe?
For that or a similarly period-ed acronym, I always just type out SHIELD, then go down the line:
. -> . -> . -> . -> …

If you run into that problem, try flushing your DNS resolution.
Pull up a run dialogue-box. Hold the Windows key and press R.
In the run dialogue-box, type ‘cmd’, which pulls up the command prompt.
At the command prompt, type in ‘ipconfig /flushdns’.
Then, try pulling up the web page again.
Works fine for me, Tanker. I always use Chrome. About the only nonstandard thing I have going is disabling Flash.
Are you using some weird plugins or something? Have you overloaded your browser with lots of tool-bars, adware, or spyware?
I use clunky Firefox (yeah I know) and it’s fine. If Narf’s solutions don’t work, back up and then download spybot and run that.

“Lets turn this ship stolen from an alien into an alien defense base!”
Well… we got all this gear from mad scientists we arrested… Neat stuff. Really, really, neat stuff.

No genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist that’s why.

His tech and contracts in high places.

Five hundred dollar hammer. Ahem.
So, sue me. Just not for the gouging that I’ve been doing with my wholesale hammer contract. Way to ruin it for a guy …
If it’s a hint that time flows differently when you run errands at near-light speeds, it’s quite a nice one.
