Some people have been wondering about this so we decided to set the record straight with a definitive answer.

Where you good?
Hm. I’d say that’s a textbook case of split personality holding hands with schizophrenia. It all makes sense!
Also, hate to be that guy but I think in the last panel Buckaress should be saying “Were” instead of “Where”.
*braces for backlash*
Hahaha! Best answer possible!
I always just assumed that because she was so good, taking her halo away let a bunch of evilness into her. Like removing a dam and letting the water overtake a town. Then when the halo returns the evil is forced out.
bad girl is the actual person good girl is an entity inside the halo who takes over the body when the halo’s charged.
Well now somebody is going to have to change the TV Tropes page. Not that the origin story of GG wasn’t clear.
I think Bad GG is just the balance of forcing a good girl to be more good. With the halo off she acts bad enough to balance out with the extra goodness to average out to be a normal good person instead of the ‘gooder’ person.
Remember too that GG never had a chance to hit her teen years before the unnecessary exorcism. She never had a chance to go through normal teen rebellion.
” There was a girl, with a curl,
in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good, she was very good,
and when she was bad, she was horrid.”
I’d guess having powers just… polarized her. :| Like, when the goodness leaves her, it alll leaves her; that or it’s the fact that while she was good before? She was just a little girl.
Being forced to act all good all the time is bound to create a bunch of issues.
I was wondering this as well.
I think that the priest made her good girl, but this much good also made something bad to counter (balance within a human or something).
This however gets caged in her halo.
When she loses her halo, the bad side gets free all of sudden.
But the comic answered it much better. :)
Well, the answer sure is definitive!
I’m going to go with dragon8writer, that the exorcism polarised her. After all, we all have a little evil inside of us, no matter how good, pious or preachy we appear to be.
I’d say that the little piece of evil that GG carries around is not so much banished as “stored away”.
“Some people” no, “everybody” has been wondering about this.
I’m glad that you decided to finally set the record straight.
But I can’t help to feel even more confused.
I was wondering this about GG myself. ;)
She started off innocent, or “good” as a child. When she got the Gloria, she was FORCED to do good. It appears she is aware of her body, but has no control. Over years, this has built up resentment, and stress. When she takes the Gloria off, she isn’t “evil”, it’s just the only way she can vent her stress (usually by being mean). She is good, just put in a horrible situation.
Heh, that’s how 95% of people around me answers questions.
I approve of this grammatically correct answer. Yes it is one of those two things. If neither is the case, the answer is ‘no’.
BTW sirWalrus doesn’t use a sign?
The good girl and bad girl that got “mixed up” where the same person, just two different personalities. When the priest did the exorcism, it was on the “good girl” So now the good girl is…gooder. But the bad girl is still…bad.
The exorcism was intended for a thoroughly bad girl. The priest went into the wrong room and performed the exorcism on a different girl, one who was good.
Even ‘bad’ good girl isn’t really evil.
Er, “exorcism” is also spelled wrong.
This would offer a chance for anti religious trolling like.
“Obviously the influence of catholics always messes people up”…
Some people have commented that the halo polarized her, and this is true to a certain extent, however the answer is slightly different. It is not that the good within GG leaves when the halo is removed, more like she doesn’t know how to use it. Like a drug, she has become dependent on the halo for “goodness,’ meaning without it she does not know how to be good. So it is not necessarily a force of balance as much as a force of withdrawals.
Nah, it’s just that her Divine and Fallen natures have been separated into purified compartments.
The answer is “maybe.” And that’s final.
What if she was a bipolar?
I am even more confused
